Our dog got fleas in spite of monthly fleas prevention treatment. I wasn’t precise about the monthly prevention though like I should have been. I figured I could give it to her every 4-6 weeks and she’d be ok. Now I realize I needed to be as diligent with that as I am with the birth control pill. Luckily I came across the Vets Best product once my dog got fleas. It works great but you still need to be anal about how you use it. We eradicated our dog and ourselves of fleas after two weeks using the following method. I discovered our dog had fleas on a Tuesday evening, Day 0. I had been itching like crazy though a week or two prior to this but didn’t connect the dots it was due to fleas until I saw the fleas flying off my dog. It’s important to continue to treat your house and dogs for fleas for the two full weeks as there are four stages of fleas: egg, larvae, pupae, and adult. Capstar pills are only effective against adult fleas, while Vets best is effective against all stages except the pupae stage, so you need to be diligent in order to kill the pupae before they turn into adults. I still saw stuff come off my dog on my flea comb through day 10 or so.
